How do I backup my database?
Simply click backup database. A file will be created with all your
database tables.
How do I backup a single table?
Select table from the list shown on the menu. A file will be created
with all data from your table.
How do I backup a portable access database?
Supply an empty Access database. The backup routine will
automatically create all the tables and fields with your data.
How I do restore a table?
Simply enter the backup file name and select the table (or all
tables) to be restored.
Can I move data to MYSQL or SQL Server?
Yes, simply select the output database and data will be
automatically moved to your other database.
Can I move data to a different web host?
Yes, do a full backup of the database with one click on your current
server.
Copy the file to your new server.
Build the empty VP-ASP tables as described in VPASP
documentation.
Then do a one click restore. If you have additional tables or site
specific fields they will automatically be added to the new server
database tables.
How secure is the program?
Database backup and restore uses two levels of security. All task
must be done using VP-ASP administration login. Optionally, you can
require a password. This password is something you create in an
encrypted form so it cannot be guessed. The generic version uses a
logon with encrypted password.
How do I know when backup was taken?
Each created file is time-stamped. During the restore from a
file, the date and time of backup file is displayed.
Can the program generate SQL to rebuild tables without doing a restore?
Yes, table creation scripts can be generated for use with SQL Server,
MYSQL or Access. This SQL can be used with VP-ASP convertsql utility.
How do I use program in my language?
Translate a few phrases in the language file. Most captions and
prompts will then appear in your language. Only English is currently
supplied.
Can I use this program with non VP-ASP database?
Yes the generic version supports most database applications that use
SQL Server, MYSQL or Access in a Windows Environment.
What are the requirements?
This software runs in a Windows environment and requires ASP (Active
Server Page) support which is standard on most Windows Web hosting
environments.
Can I download the backup to my PC?
Yes by turning on the generate link option. The file created can be
copied and pasted to your PC via your browser.
